Construction Continues in Dean Bank Main Office

Most of the changes continue to be out of public view for now. 

April 13, 2018:  Steel installation to support the new second floor offices and reinforce the floor to support the new vestibule area has begun.  Most of the changes this week are in non-public areas.  Second floor access to interior stairways has changed; and meeting room walls have been opened up to install reinforcements.

April 9, 2018:  Demolition of the old branch space has been completed.  The walk-up ATM off of Main Street has been removed.   Steel installation to support the new second floor offices and reinforce the floor to support the new vestibule area will begin the second week of April.  Some doorways to enter the old branch space are disappearing while new ones appear. 

As we look forward with anticipation to the warmer weather, longer days and outdoor activities, it’s notable that Dean Bank along with our fellow community banks nationwide commemorate the month of April as “Community Banking Month”.

Demolition of the old branch space will be completed this week.  The walk-up ATM off of Main Street is scheduled to close in the morning of April 3^rd.  

Since March 9^th the construction crew has been very busy with demolition of the old branch space and an area near the rear entrance where our Financial Services Group once called home. 

On March 9^th the hammers began flying in Franklin as the renovation of our Main Office began.  Over the course of the next 6 months I’ll do my best to keep you posted on what’s going on and what you can expect when you come to the Main Office of Dean Bank in Franklin. 

In last month’s President’s Message, I mentioned that our Main Office will be undergoing an ambitious expansion / modernization very soon.  The project plan calls for multiple phases and Phase One is about to begin.  I wanted to let our customers know that a construction start date of March 9^th has been finalized and inform you of some of the changes that will be occurring over the first 30 days or so. 

2018 is off to a fast start and our staff has been working hard; implementing the new technology we’ve recently rolled out while getting ready to do more to improve your experience with us.

I’m pleased to announce that our entirely new Bill Pay, Mobile Banking and Mobile Check Deposit products are operational. 

Dean Bank has received and returned a number of counterfeit Treasurer's Checks as well as Money Orders from financial institutions in Arkansas, South Carolina and Ohio. We'd like our customers, local businesses and financial institutions that may have received them to know that they are not legitimate financial instruments and you should contact the proper authorities right away should you have one presented. 

A few months ago I announced we’d be converting our Bill Payment solution, as well as our Mobile Banking and Mobile Check Deposit applications.  I’m confident that the issues discovered in late May, which delayed the conversion to our new electronic banking platform, have been resolved and we are ready to move ahead.  We will begin the electronic banking services conversion on Tuesday September 19^th and finish on Thursday September 21^st.

I regret to inform you that the Bill Pay, Mobile Banking and Mobile Check Deposit conversion, scheduled to begin on June 6^th must be rescheduled.   

On June 6th – June 8th Dean Bank will be converting its Bill Payment solution, as well as its Mobile Banking and Mobile Check Deposit applications. 

If you were to ask a random person: “what first comes to mind when you think of an important date in May”?  The most likely response might be Mother’s Day or Memorial Day!  Here at Dean Bank it’s “New Year’s Day”!  April 30 ended the bank’s fiscal year and May 1 began a new one.

Dean Bank will soon be converting to a new Telephone Banking System “Phonelink” as our current technology is being discontinued.  Here’s a brief summary of what will be changing and most importantly, what will NOT be changing:

In the wake of recent data breaches, shoppers should be on high alert while purchasing their presents this holiday season. 

Our Internet Banking provider will be performing necessary system maintenance the weekend of October 18^th. As a result, our Telephone Banking, Online Banking, Bill Pay and Mobile Banking application (including Mobile Check Deposit) will be unavailable beginning at 2:00 PM. on Saturday, October 18.

Dean Bank is aware of the recently discovered Heartbleed bug that has been the subject of recent attention and discussion in the media. This security exploit allows unauthorized access to secure websites, possibly exposing usernames and passwords.
